Obj1,
I started a new post since the last thread is a different topic.
Freeze is a very important command in Soft 3D:
You will use it quite a bit to lock your transformations such as scale, rotate and translate to their beginning values such as 1 or 0. When you extrude a curve along another one etc, Soft uses it's relative position to x,x,z=0. So, you can freeze a curve to be sure that it's center is assume to be at xyz=0 etc. Another example: If you deform an object on a curve, you will always want to freeze it first.
A trick I use often on complex hiearchies is to freeze an object move it away from others so I can work on it. Then when I need it to return to it's exact place, I use set. If you click on the right side (boarder) of any of the transformations such as scale rotate or translate you will see dialog. Use "set" to make the object return to it's default value. Thus if you moved the object, it will return to 0,0,0 which you defined with the freeze command before moving.
Another useful command:
Edit/Center to Verticies is very useful to set the center point of an object according to any points you tag first.
Good luck on your project,
Urp
