Stitching real patterns in Maya Cloth

Hi,

does Maya Cloth modify given patterns before stitching
them together?
My question is based on my observation that Maya Cloth
creates a 3D trousers from 2D patterns that are not
correct from the viewpoint of the fashion designer and the patterner.

If so, Maya Cloth is not good to create 3D clothes from
real patterns created by the patterner in fashion industry. But is it really so? If so, what is actually going on in Maya Cloth?
