Strange Font Issue

Hi,

I am a new shake user and also relatively new to mac, although I have a reasonable amount of experience compositing on programs such as After Effects and Digital Fusion.

My problem is this: I am doing a job where I need to use the font Scala Sans, which I have been provided the true type font of. When I installed it in my mac it seems to work in all software correctly except shake, where anything i type appears as numbers rather than letters. Any suggestions on why this is happening would be appreciated.

cant be of much help to tell you why it happens nor how to avoid it, but i'd suggest to do the text animation in after effects if you can, much better control over text there.
if for some reason you have to do it in shake, you could set up your text plate in photoshop and use that in shake.. obviously this wont work with complex animations, but as said above then you're better off to to it in AE in the first place.
maybe somebody else has a more elegant way to solve the issue.

Well shake does have kindof a restrictive view on font neming and glyph naming. ITs easy to make a custom font that does not work, mainly thsi implies theres also somnething a buit whaky in the font settings.

Amway its a rather common issue with *nix lineage programs.

Thanks for the tips.

I ended up building the text elements in photoshop as they were simple text elements then animated them in Shake.
