Hi, I hope someone can help me with this. I've been working on a simulation of the sun with sunspots on its surface. I have a fairly acceptable (I hope) sumulation of the sun's surface flaculae which I was able to animate using a 3D procedural texture. I want to have a set of sunspots overlaid on the sun's surface but I ran into a problem I simply can't fix no matter what I've tried. I've attached a small cropped image of one of the sunspot groups. If the image doesn't show up I'll need some help as to how to get it to appear on this post.
If you can see the image, you'll notice a thin, dark line at the edges of all the sunspots - it shouldn't be there and that's what I can't seem to get rid of. When I look at it in Maya previous to rendering I don't see that edge around the spots but it's there after rendering.
What I've done is mapped just the sunspots themselves on an orb slightly larger than the sun surface one and then rendered just that layer with alpha to be composited on top of the sun surface in Adobe Premier. Maybe that's what's causing the problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Mike
