Syflex or Maya cloth

I've read a little about Syflex, primarily from their web site and don't really understand what the difference is between that and the Maya cloth other then it computes faster. Unfortunately that mostly has to do with the small amout of info the web site contains. Can anyone tell me the advantages/disadvantages of Syflex to warrant the price? I'd also be interested in knowing what the learning curve is like.

I cant explain you the difference in terms of technical behind the scenes issues, but i can guarantee you, that syflex is much, much simpler and quicker than cloth. you basically create whatever you want (polygonal model i.e.) and turn it into a cloth object, a few settings (literally not more than 20) and the thing behaves beautifully.
Learning curve: within 1 or 2 days you will be into it.

Yeah, one of the most obvious benefits is the ability to turn any existing object into a cloth object. So no more panels or stitches or crazy headaches. They sent me a demo a while back and likely will do the same for you. Check it out.

What I mean is that with Syflex, a poly object can be made into cloth object without modification, whereas in Maya it must be divided into 4-sided panels and stitched together. Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

No it doesent you can turn a arbitraty object to a cloth object if you wish! Its just that working with panels makes your cloth more real! And you can solve it resolution independently sortoff.

Cool. I didn't know that. Although I'll say this: if a function doesn't yield acceptable results, it's as if the function doesn't exist. I'm anxious to test it for myself.

Its not that it dioesent give acceptable results its not just as good as panes is, and not as physicaly acciurate! thats all.. its totaly comparable to syflex.
