Texture Dissapears On Batch Render?

hi, im having an odd problem, odd because it seems to have just happened for no good reason.

Anyway, im working with a video texture on a lambert and have been rendering fine single frames the 3d object and the video texture appearing as they are supposed to.

When I batch render however the 3d object renders but the texture just vanishes!

Any ideas?

What is baffling is I have been batch rendering scenes that worked fine until now. I've just gone and opened an old scene whcih had batch rendered successfully and re-run a batch render on it and same thing is happening, the texture vanishes.

Ive been scouring the render globals for a clue and have searched through all the batch render topics here, but am stumped.

you are using Mr right? In reality youd never actualy want to use a video file as a texture even if you can.

Mr Right? Im rendering with Maya Software.

Maybe im missing the term "texture" but Im simply using video as the colour in a lambert and assigning an image sequence so the video plays as part of other animated objects in the scene.

But hell, anyone know any tricks to make batch rendering match what you get when you render a single frame. I must be missing something simple.

Its not the same instance of maya thats running, so it hasnt go the same cache. Propably the reason is disk aces of somekind, ie the batch isntace wisch does not know of guim has not got the saame realtive path or something (happens all the time).

Anywya you can allways ofrce it with rendrePlease, andyway dont make a habit out of it.

Thanks man, a different instance of maya makes sense as what i get when i render a single frame is what i want from the batch render.

I checked relative paths, by which you mean where the rendered frame is outputted? that is the same as it always has been.

Anyway, still unresolved.

No i mean the file in nodes themselves, chek that thir attributes are set to ABSOLUTE paths but this may someteimes be tricky to chek within the gui tself. So to this end laung your bach form commandline and FORCE it to read the same proj environment.

Thanks for your help man but how do you force a batch render using command line?

Im right into video production and screen design but pretty new to using maya, just the basics and figuring things as out as I go.

With the relative path thing I reloaded the video file from a base level drive, should I rename it to a one word name as well?

Also if you have the time to explain why you shouldnt use a video file for texture, how else could I o about getting this effect? (screenshot of project)

yeah trackings going great, video coming along but I got a new mo board, cpu and new ram and had to do a reinstall and now have strange batch render issue!

well, still dont comprehend the 2 instances of maya and the absolute paths thing but have resolved the issue using Xframe mel script which renders the frame render view.

Ok, what does maya say when you run a render form commanline (no not from within maya form the operating sytems commandline.) Anyway you can render with per frame forcers but yoru giving most other uers a 20% advantage, so ist stupid as it probably eats all benefit of getting faster stuff in firstplace.

Se this is what happens. Maya comes in 3 flavours, GUI maya , batch maya and commandline render maya. Commandline render maya is a stripped down version of gui maya, because it does not need to know gui stuff, just render stuff. The commandline render maya is also free for you as long as you have one licence, so you could use a 100 computers for one licence of maya (this doe not extend to mentalray or hardware rendering tough wich use batch maya licences trough commandlin render maya).

Now whenever you call batch render maya saves out whatever you have to temporary file, it then passes this file to commandline render maya wich has absolutely no idea what your doing in your GUI, IT has no usnderstading of your gui. NOTHING NADA ZILCH.

This is why you need to make good care to understand, how the commandline operates because maya sdependent on you KNOWING this, also define your projects very well and make sure to chak that maya passes this info along aswell. Also maya batch need same rights as GUI maya wich may or may not be the case.
