Hi, I am fairly new with MAYA and to this Forum, so I apologize for the very basic question, but I was given a project folder which I placed in a directory in my harddrive, and when I open the scene using MAYA 5 and try to render I get a warning that some texture files cannot be found. The path for those texture files is obviously the wrong one, but I am at a loss trying to figure how to reassign the path for the texture files or how to add another search path, or perhaps I need to relocate the entire folder, but even the drive letter is incorrect and I do not have such drive letter in my system... I could not find anything in the help session on how to add or change a path search except for some very cryptic thing, and I am not a programmer...
Perhaps I need to go material to material and reassignning path to path. I suppose I would then have to create a directory structure or path identical to the one assigned in the original project... This would be cumbersome since I do not have a partition named "J" in my system. But what would be the procedure to accomplish this if and only if this is the only correct way to resolve my problem?
I would be surprised if Maya would not have an esaier way to make entire projects transferable from one person or computer to another... And no one I have communicated with outside this forum and website has given me a straight answer...
This is what my Script Editor window shows:
// Warning: Texture file J:/T&L 2/windfarm/land_initialShadingGroup_M0OP.tif doesn't exist, node file5 //
and:
// Warning: Texture file C:/Documents and Settings/Jared Spade/My Documents/windfarm stuff/windfarm/windfarm/sourceimages/land2_initialShadingGroup_M0CL.tif doesn't exist, node file6 //
I need to change both of those paths... How can I do that? There must be a way... HELP me please...
Thanks a lot for reading my post. I will look forward to getting thru my log jam...
Take care,
Antonio
