hi there!
as i mentioned in my prev. postings, i'm a xsi newbee so i've got another newbeeish question:
i'm still working on that redbull-bevcan. my "aluminium" shader for the top part of the can is finished. and now i have to do the cylindrical part of the can.
i'll use a scanned redbull -logo for the texture, and as u all can remember, the redbull print does not fill the whole can. there are large spaces which remain aluminium.
so my question is: in which format do i have to save pics to keep the alpha channel working? and, how do i activate the alpha channel in xsi?
i tried bmp, and gif but the transparent spaces all became white. do i have to use a secong pic (mask) to do that transparency effect on the texture?
i've checked the manual and this forum about that, but i could't find it by now(most of the links in older posts are gone). i'm sure its in there, but i think this is the faster way to get an answer....
another thing i wanted to ask is: how would u do that distorted reflections that appear on the aluminium when ure looking at a redbull(or whatever)bevcan. there are no other objects in my scene that could cause that reflections, so i've got to use an image for that!? but how to do that distortion that appear because of the cylindrical shape? shall i play around in photoshop to get the result i'm looking for or is there a way to do it in xsi, with shaders/fliters or something?
thx in advance, cya
