Leach, I can tell you now that its to do with how somfitmage samples textures. Im not an expert in the jaggies of textures but I know that in Cinema 4D's (What package is that?) large online help file it contains a large section on Texture sampling. Basically, in Cinema 4d, the problem of textures becoming jaggy in the distance is solved by having various methods of sampling the textures. There is MIP, SAT, CIRCLE 1, CIRCLE 2, SQUARE and None. These sampling methods basically blur the texture map in such a way that as they get further into the distance, they become more or less blurred so that no Jaggies appear. The results are good, depending on which sampling method you use but I imagine they also add to the render time. Why am I telling you all this information about Cinema 4D? Well, I don't know soft too well just yet, but the texture jaggies will be avoided if you can somehow sample or blur the texture maps. I know that adding a depth of field to the camera will also stop such jaggies appearing as the distance will be out of 'focus', so to speak. I hope this has helped you and that the 3D community as a whole will become a better and richer working environment.
Thanks, Knick Knack
