hey i need a snow texture
can any one send me an email with it? i wuld me gratefull!! thanx
Snow isnt about the texture... its just damn hard to do. Convicing that is (unless you comp), since it will affect the overall contrast of the scene etc. Snow is over bright you se...
I did some snow one time with a sand texture for a bump map to get the "gritty" then used a common water bump map to get the ripple effects across the surface. I also applied a wave deformer across the surface to add a little more. Around objects such as trees, I placed "blobby shapes, to make it look like the snow had built up around them. Then I placed random blobs all over the place to look like snow that had fallen off the trees. These add nice details across barren snow.
Then used the material properties for the rest. For instance chaning the ambient or specular color to light blue. I applied a wave deformer across the surface to give it ripples.
I wasn't going for photo real, but perhaps it will meet your needs or get you in the ball park.
