Texturing subd (2)

I'm finding that texturing subd uvs is really slow. By that I mean my system slows down. Any reason why this is? (1.2ghz althon, 512mb ram, win2k)

I've closed my viewports so there would be no need to update the uvs, but still it takes a while after each move.

okay. I figured out that I could duplicate and work on the poly proxy (level 0) and then transfer the poly uvs over via "inherit poly UVs".

However, the base mesh is a bit different than subd surface. Does anyone know of a way to transfer UVs of a level 1/2 poly mesh? I hope someone can help me out; I did put some time into finding an answer to myself.

If you can delete history do it and it should/could speed things up.

I think Joojaa has posted some pretty indepth stuff on this in the modeling section in the past so it might be worth looking for.

Good luck,

I did a bit more reading and searching and found that I should just turn off display geometry under the subd attributes. This way as I manipulate the subd level UVs there is no update. After everything is generally laid out I can switch geometry back on and tweak the layout.

No need to work on a polygonal copy and transfer UVs. Subd UVs are more precise anyway. Sorry to waste time like this. Hope it helps someone
