we are still a bit aways. Let me give you guys some insight though:
- All new forums.
-- major feature (sub forums)
-- subforums for all submissions on the site (each mel script will have its own thread so people can post suggestions, each gallery artist, etc), but all will be catagorized with sub forums.
You've seen them on other sites. So we can have a structure for forums like
Index
--- Maya
------ Character Animation
------ Downloads
------------- Mel Scripts
------------------ Rname.30
------------------ L I G H T G I R L 4.0
----------------------- posts about lightgirls....
------------ Maya Tools
------------ Shaders
so forth. Posts being under each one of those.
Customization
-- Basically you will be able to decide what sections you see. Dont want XSI, Dont want Max... they will be gone from the menu, gone from updates.
-- More newsletters and updates emails. You will be able to subscribe to daily emails giving you updates in a number of areas
New Design
-- Going back to lumis.com days. Less busy, more clean, lighter on the eyes,
More informative
-- Each section, like Maya, Mel Scripts, etc, will feature a "Start Page" that will give you a breakdown of that section's most relative information. For instance, in the Maya section we will have not just Maya updates, but top downloads, top threads, highest rated, etc . In the Mel Script section, instead of a bunch of icons, again will be the top 10, most downloaded, commercial product links, relavant news, most active threads, etc.
-- News. You've seen we have started to link to news items. We will have a whole new news format, and it will be presented much more from the pages, without taking priority. Mostly graphically linked with small thumbnails.
Extended Feature Sets
-- Ok, this is a big one. Every section is being rebuilt. We are adding things for each file such as individual page, comments page, copy link, rating system.
-- Each section will have more subcategories, like shaders will have organic, woods, etc (not those names, but you get the idea)
-- More robust searches. Easily find anything. Trying to have any file come up from typing in for instance http://www.highend3d.com/filenamehttp://www.highend3d.com/filename
-- Searches will be available in each subsection presented on the page clearly, as well as from top navigation
-- All new tutorial section, with new "tip" section, also all having comments, ammendments, etc. Also video tutorials.
-- New FAQ system with multiple moderators. Easily create new questions and post answers. Support from the software companies on this one.
-- All new gallery with subsections
-- All new user links section, with subsections
There is quite a bit more, but gotta run for now
Basically, its a restructure of all the data we currently have. Allowing users to more easily find all the assets that we offer while eliminating the ones they dont need. Extreme attention being paid to searches and keeping users updated with newsletters.
Goal, Jan 1st. As of right now, nothing but code snippets and photoshop elements.
