I'm new at lighting using Maya 2008. I have 40 spotlights in a scene using Ray Tracing in Maya Software with Production Quality Anti-Aliasing.
As I setup each light, I tested it in the IPR rendering mode and each light showed up nice & bright the way I wanted it to look.
As I finished, I rendered normally and once it finished, the scene is VERY dark. it doesn't even look like hardly any of the lights are on. But the lights in the IPR render look perfect.
I made sure default lighting was turned off. My key lights are set anywhere from 1.0 - 2.0 Intensity. I thought maybe that was too dim for a real render (even though the IPR looks fine). So I cranked one key light up to 5.0 and rendered and it was barely any brighter.
If this means anything, there are also tiny specs that appear all over the textures in the final render. I'm guessing it's happening due to a problem with the lights shining on those surfaces?
Here is an example of my IPR render on the left and what it looks like when I render it normally on the right side. Notice the freckled specks on the normal render and it's extremely dark. It doesn't look like all of my spotlights are working. And I don't know what those specks are on my object.
Would anyone be able to explain to me how to get my lighting to properly render?
