The xsi 1.5 changeover to xsi 2 thread

Hello,

I thought it would be nice to have a thread dedicated to the 1.5 to 2.0 transition. Hopefully others who have upgraded to xsi 2.0 will find this thread useful.

My first question is that in 1.5, when i selected multiple polygons, it was no problem... But in 2.0, i have to hit SHIFT while holding down U to select multiple poly's... pretty annoying when most of the time im selecting more than just one poly.

anyone know if this is an option that i can simply change?

Simply enable Select-> Extended Component Selection.
This is not changed from 1.5!

Indeed there are a lot of things changed from 1.5, but it seems to me that documentation is quite complete.

Oh yeah.. and when i merge two halves of a polymesh, it shades the result with a slimy green overshade sorta thing... i dont like it. hehe HELP!

Also, you don't have to "hold down U." The keys are toggleable. Just press U once to enter raycast poly select mode. Then hold shift to select additional polys. When you are done with the tool, you can hit U again to exit it.

Thankyou... i realized that soon after posting my initial message.

I guess i'm still a soft|3D Artist at heart and hence still have some habits to break out of.

This is because the merge operation creates two clusters on your resulting object. Just delete them and here you go.

Whenever i want to move objects around using the manipulators double clicking them constrains the axis. I find this quite slowing my workflow down - is it possible to remove this?

On mouse over move window to front function is very annoying. But appeantly there's no way of fixing that. In v2.

You can double-click again on the arrows to revert to freeform. Double-click outsite the object with the same mouse button you used to constraint your axis.

Have you tried the soft3d keyboard layout? I'm using it as i started on soft3d and prefer it to the standard xsi keys.

The most annoying is if you create a primitve object and decide to change some parameters (number of uv's etc) why doesn't it let you?
I have menu pop up's turned off so it means i have to remember to hold ctrl everytime i create an object to open the menu, and i usually forget
