Thoughts On Macbook Pro

well from what i understand, full sail university, which i will be attending in the fall, is giving away a free mac book pro to all students who are applying now (i dont know the details, so please dont hound me about that), however, i was wondering about everyones thoughts regarding the macbook pro and if it would really be sufficient in terms on what i can do with it without limitation. I know that doing alot of 3d work on a notebook computer is usually considered a joke, but supposedly this thing isnt half bad and could actually do alot of what is needed. dual core processor, and an ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics card. Looking forward to replies. thanks guys -- help me out. -b0x

Theres no computer on the planet that gives you this.

See thing is the downside of a laptop is:

Not enough disk space, almost no possibility to get it ultrafast. It must be external without a question.
Allmost inevitably slower gfx card
Keyboard ergonomic on a laptop is bad because the keyboard is too small (i get my neck jammed on laptop keyboard and i dont get it on normal one one. So i use a remote one whit a laptop)
Screen estate is way smaller on laptop than on a stationary workstation, most i know have 1 to 3 22-26" monitors.
Periferials like a wacom tablet dont move all that well with you.
Many considerations make the laptop realy not so portable, so a good workstation is better on the long run for your physique. trust me the bigger and better monitor and better ergonomics of your worstation atre as important as regular exercise. And usually what heppens the computer stays in one place (and yes its really hard to do 3d on the move, because you need mouse and cordination etc)

However the best mac books are as good as laptops in general sense get. But they arent workstation material yet. Tough their computational capacyty is enough.
