Ticker Tape Effect Or Plugin?

Does anyone know of a plugin for AE that can easily create a moving news "ticker tape" type text display across the bottom of footage?

The only guaranteed way I can think of doing it with standard AE tools would be to animate very wide layers across the frame, but this is going to be horribly time consuming and clunky. It might be possible to do something with particles, but that's also going to be difficult and awkward.

Ideally I'm hoping there is a simple plugin out there that you can simply type text into and it will do the rest, with probably some user-set parameters for speed, color, font etc.

Anyone know of one?

i'm not near a machine with afx but there might be an animation preset you can apply to your text layer.
if not a simple expression along the lines of position.X = frame() or something to that effect.
can't script without a manual in hand sigh
anyway, once you've typed your text in, set the font etc the script will take care of the rest.

This would still require using a conventional layer for the text, and if you need continuous scrolling text for long periods of time mean working with an unmanageably wide layer, or having to mess about animating and synchronizing many narrower ones...

I was really hoping to find that there is a plugin that is specifically set up to create this type of effect easily.... (
