Tiling

Hey there

I am planning to do create some tiling code to generate patterns. Something like http://www.mathpuzzle.com/tilepent.html
I should be 2D in the beginning.

The idea is to define an area and apply the tiling pattern to it, so that it kinda fits in this area. I want to use scripting to make the testing of options faster, as it is quite a big area and it is kinda hard work to do it by hand...

I'm still wondering what the best approach would be...

any ideas or suggestions??

Thanks a lot

Daniel

Write a new shader.

yeah I thought about it... but then it wouldn't deal with edges the way we want... we don't want to have cut tiles, but to have more control on the edge conditions....

otherwise I would just create a texture in photoshop and paint it over...

we think about adding some intelligence to the way the tiles are placed...

oops... ok... so time to learn new skills
any links or tutorials you know that could help?
never wrote a shader before

this should help you on the triangle test:

For you too read the lore of a td form sigraph 02 courses, for a crash into the conceptual thinking (google it)

For some example shader codes so you dont need to start form scratch. Hit f1 for a documentation of all the functions:

many many thanks Joojaa...

but, I couldn't find the siggraph thing... I actually didn't understand "the lore of a td"... what does that mean??
you know maybe the number of the course or the lecturer?

thanks a lot...
