Hello, Does anyone know why the Move Tool/Rotate Tool/Scale Tool sometimes disappear? The situation my frined encountered was: when he clicked on "w", he should be able to see the Move Tool showing on four views (top, side, front and perspective); but it only showed on perspective view. By the way, he did reset the tool. I told him that might be because his video card is not powerful enough? Am I right? Oh! this problem happened even when he only had one simple cube on the scene...
yep, i had this problem (and so did lot of other people). I think you probly have a ati graphics card which maya doesnt support
Try to open maya and then start a completly new project. Make a box and play around with it (move/rotate/scale). Do you still have the problem? If no, then its likley that ya current project is corrupt in some way. Dont ask me how, when or what cos i just dont know. This is werid but i found that opening the scene from maya results in this problem BUT opening the scene from the saved file so that maya has to be booted up from the saved file SOMETIMES resolves the problem. However, everytime you want to reload the scene you have to quit maya then load it up using the saved file!
Failing that, try to delete ya pref folder (in my doc and setting"name of computer"mayapref ...or something like that) so that maya defaults to its own prefereneces when it gets rebooted and see if this resloves the problem.
about the ATI none-supported card- i am having the RADEON 9800 PRO 128MB, and having the same problam (well- almost- the MOVE tool IS available) does anyone have the same card or related, and having the same problam? and what about ATI? (Catalyst) does they give an answer on that one?
Okay this is the standard answer to vod card problems, somehow i need to give it every 2 weeks or so bacause it just doesnet apper to sink into peoples consoiusness because the seem to thing that things get better all the time. NEWASFLASH development odes not allways go forward, the way you want it...
Anyway get different drivers and experiment with them, uninstall the old ones forst so theres no lingering side effact.
And then the supprise dont get the NEWEST drivers but rather the stabe build of the drivers last generation.
it might not give you the boost of 2 fps in the newest hot game but it works with maya, atleast as well as any non dcc card ever will.
