Since I'm at work I can't currently view your script so I can't really answer the first question.
question 2: To be honest, I never use the flipbook feature since frame cycler isn't very reliable (in my experiences), however, I do believe that nuke has a temp dir in which flipbookframes are stored. So if you cancel your flipbook render you should be able to find the rendered frames there and open them manually.
As for question 5: This is possible through some merge operation such as plus or max, when 2 nodes are connected to the merge node, a new arrow will appear on the left side of the merge node. Through this pipe you can connect additional inputs. Although, if you want to use different blending modes you're gonna have to use multiple merge nodes I'm afraid.
