I got some questions regarding interlaced footage in Shake. I have to say after reading the manual i got a little confused. In Chapter 6, there is a step-by-step process about how to set up your script to use interlaced images but i need some clarification for each step.
Step 1: Set the deInterlacing parameter of each FileIn node
I am not sure what effect this has. Does it mean that setting this parameter to anything other then none, Shake will actually deinterlace the footage? Or is it just to tell Shake what format the footage is in, so that it knows how to treat it (in which case the name "deInterlacing parameter" would be misleading)?
Step 2: Set the reTiming parameters of each FileIn node.
It tells me to set it to Convert. Ok, if i want to convert from one framerate to another, or from interlaced to non-interlaced i can understand this. But what if i just want to keep the footage interlaced? Is it not enough to set the global render controls to field rendering?
Step 3: Set the Inc parameter in the Time Bar to 0,5. .. This allows you to eliminate the blurring caused by overlapping fields.
Is the inc parameter not strictly for viewing purposes? Does it influence how filters/transforms are applied? I thought it only gives me the ability to step through the footage from field to field, nothing else.
Thanks alot.
