Hi, I read somewhere that you should keep your poly models in quads when adding detail and splitting faces if you are planning on converting to subds... because there is some problem in the conversion if there are 3 and 5 sided faces in the poly model?? Is this true??
No its not aproblem per se its just harder foa a human to predict the result. Ok and it makes for a 2 to3 times a s heavy object to handle!
in general five sided ones are better then 3
tri's will bring maya to a crawl as well as resulting in a bumpy surface.
as joojaa says; stick with quads and allways take a 5 sider over a 3 sider.
