Hi. New to Shake. I'm cutting a project in FCP with sequence settings of 960x720 (DVCPRO HD codec), but certain effects plates were filmed in 1280x1080 so we'd have more resolution to play with in Shake. I've just completed the first of those shots in Shake. It ends with a Crop node to reduce the image to 960x720 -- and according to Quicktime Player and FCP, that's the resolution of the finished shot.
However, inside FCP, the completed FX shot does not appear to have the same aspect ratio as the rest of the 960x720 project. There are narrow bands at the sides, almost like a 4:3 image played on a 16:9 TV. I know there has to be something simple I'm overlooking.
Something that's possibly related: when I cut one of the 1280x1080 source files into the sequence, it works seamlessly with the 960x720 material. However, if I export one of those shots to Shake, without reducing the resolution in shake, when it comes back into FCP, it no longer plays correctly, but at a 1:1 pixel ratio -- like the higher resolution shot is zoomed in and the edges are lost.
What is it that I'm not understanding about how these two programs deal with resolution issues like this? Any help is very much appreciated.
