Is there a way to delete cameras? I have the standard Side, Font, Top, and Persp cameras.. but I also have persp1, persp2, and persp3. However, maya won't allow me to delete these cameras.
Any ideas on how I get around this?
what does maya say? Are they locked somehow? try lockNode
This is the error I get:// Error: file: C:/Program Files (x86)/Autodesk/Maya2008/scripts/others/doDelete.mel line 103: Non-deletable node 'persp1' cannot be deleted. //
wow.. how did you crap up your scene that way?if you do:
CODEdelete persp1;?
I'm just that talented.
I get the same error with the delete command and the lockNode didnt help because its not locked =(
hmmm ok:or the other way around:what About selecting everything you need but the crapped up stuff and do an export selection into a new scene?
That worked. But I was hoping to figure out what happened so I could avoid it/fix it in the future
yea would be interesting how one could do such stuff. but good to hear its ok now though.
to avoid it in the future make sure you do not import cameras from other scene files.. also avoid using persp as anything but a temp camera because it can conflict when imported into a new file or whatever.. treat it as disposable.
that is when you parent stuff under the default cams or connect it somehow?

I'm not really sure what Maya decides to do when you import another persp camera but I seem to recall it not ignoring the imported one completely. But it is something that Maya messes with in a way that is not conducive to workflow.
When you prepre stuff for import/reference only export selected.
This extra persp can be deleted by saving out the file in ma format and deleting the entry.
