While looking into ways to query a texture map to return the rgb colors at a particular coordinate I ran across a MEL command that doesn't seem to be documented in Maya 4.5: colorAtPoint.
Typing -----help colorAtPoint ---does return a usage statement and there are a couple of height map and ocean fluid scripts that seem to use this command but there is nothing in the docs or scripts that go into any detail. Has anyone used this command. If so can you help me understand it better?
Thanks,
Randy Stebbing
If you have installed 4.5 Unlimited you should have this script. Line number 94 uses the colorAtPoint command.
