Using 3d tracking to stabilize

I have a very hard shot to stabilize, a man running for a street with a close camera to him. I wondering if a can use a automatic 3D tracking tool, like boujou, to track the shot and use that tracking information to stabilize the shot. Any ideia how to do this??

2d3 sells a tool called "steadymove" that does a nice job at stabilizing.

To answer your question, yes you can use a 3d tracker. You bring the track into your 3d app. Duplicate the camera. Then smooth out the animation curves in your 3d app. Then use that smoothed information as an offset to get a nice stabilize in shake.

"Then use that smoothed information as an offset to get a nice stabilize in shake"

??? I wasnt aware that you can import camera information from a 3d app to shake until version 4 is released.

hehe, yea, that would help to explain that part.

What I do is parent a locator to the original camera and translate it around .01 in front of the camera. Then look through the smoothed out camera. Now use the "shakeExport.mel" that is here on highend. Use it to export the x,y translation of that locator to a tracker node. Bring that tracker into shake; copy paste that data into a stabilize node and use that for stabilizing the camera.

it sounds complicated but it really isn't.

The pixel farm make an excellent 3D tracker that also comes with plugins to stabilise their track in Shake. As well as the option to export v4 friendly camera moves. However if the shot is very tight and not much to track thats relevent then any 3D track app may get confused. any way

Yep, i generall use Boujou three which now has tools that make it easy to export tracks diricly into a shake node. So u can export tracks/cornerpins/ and so on. U can then use these in a shake stabalise node. Works a treat for me
