Hello,
I have rather an unusual problem and I hope you can help me. I'm using a number of different blend shapes to control a joint chain (to which I've wire deformed and skinned some particles). I've added a spline IK handle to the joints and I want the joint chain to hit certain positions from a 'closed' position (think of a bicep curl) to an open position (the bicep uncurled) and then other variations of that open position. These are my target shapes and they are CV curves, with the same number of CVs as the joint chain and match exactly the positions the joints will be when they hit that position, if you get my drift (I positioned all the joints first and then made the CV curves to match them). I then want to convert the blend shapes to hair, to give vibrating, molecular style motion in addition to the joint chain hitting the particular positions I require. All good in theory, but not quite so in practice. The idea half works. I can get the joint chain to move to the various positions using blend shapes, but the problem is, instead of the chain unfurling like a bicep curl, the last joint in the chain jumps to it's corresponding CV first and so on up the chain, so that the particles spin around like a top before hitting the correct final position. If the first joint in the chain moved to it's corresponding CV first and so on down the chain to the last joint, I think this would work, but I'm not sure how or where to specify this or if it's even possible? Is my idea actually the right way to go?
Oh yeah, I'm working in Maya 2014.
Thanks so much!
