Using Lattices On Multiple Objects

I'm using Lattices as a modeling tool to create some organic distortions.

The problem is I'm working with proxy geometry while the final geometry is created by another artist.

I'm doing the lattice work on the proxy geometry, and want to plug-in the final geometry once it's completed.

I've been playing around with Hypergraph connections to get the new geometry to accept the Lattice, but I having problems getting it to work.

Any help, tips, or nudges in the right direction would be helpful, thanks

there's a mel command for this.. it's called ..drum roll please....

deformer

IE to add geometry to an existing deformer..

deformer -e -g nurbsCylinder2 squash1;
