Is there such a thing?
yes sure.* Its one of the central concepts of the transfer toolset introduced somewhere in maya 2009-2008. Yet however it doenst really work out in the end, because your ov map will get distorted by this process, in way that dont benefit you unless the surfaces really happen to hot the mark very well.
Unwrapping is still easier. The worst thing is if you have a uv seam in teh wrap but the underlying surface has a face that spans thet area. SO your not free to use any wrap you like.
- i think the first time i had done this like 1999 so about 12 years ago. Still hasnt soved my ov mapping problems.
