i am a bit surprised maya don't have a build in shader to input that,
or did i missed a new thing somwhere ?
I am not, maya just has the default mentaray shader pack and mayas own shaders ported. Since they dont include this you dont get one out of the box. Youll probably see autodesk rolling one out next cycle. (autodesk is not one entity but separate factions doing their own thing). See getting this done form normal artist piror to the painting software supporting this was slim.*
Anyway ive seen at least 8 different free shaders over the years with sources that does this. Personally i use my own (it is after all just 30 lines of code mostly declarations at that) but you can get one from, which happened to be the first one i googled.
