I was wondering what command in Mel would allow me to set the scale pivot of a group of points to a certain world space value? Example: I have some poly vertices selected and I want their scale pivot at 3.5 4.25 12.5. If you know, an answer would be greatly appricated. Thanks!
I'm not sure if this is what you mean/need. You can select a group of verts and invoke the scale tool.. this will usually set the scale tool/pivot point to be in the centre of the selected verts. If you then push the insert key(to take you into pivot point mode) you can then move this point around using the red,green,blue arms of the pivot tool... then press the insert key again to take you back to the scale tool... you will now be able to scale around your new position...(the only problem is that Maya will not remember this set up, as soon as you come out of the scale mode)
Turning on echo all commands spits out the following when the insert key is hit...
EnterEditMode;
ctxEditMode;
Don't know if that will help you though.

Just found this in the docs today - this may help as well...
manipScaleContext

Yeah, I'm still on this thread. I just noticed in the docs that there is a flag for scale that allows you to define the pivot for scale operation.
