Vertices to object selection

How can I convert selection consisting of two vertices to an object selection of the same object ?
Is it possible?

I'm not quite sure what you mean but if you use "ls" and specify the "-o" flag, it returns just the object name, so if you have two vertices selected and you type:

select ls -sl -o;

it selects the object.... is this what you want?
