Fundamentals:
VFX002 - Breath In Some Life @ Dusk
Submissions Start: July 1st 2003
Submissions End: July 31st 2003
Voting: August 1-6 2003
Winner Announced: August 7th
The Challenge:
You are given a still image plate -- it is nice enough, but its kind of boring, uneventful, and un-emotive. Most of all, there's NO movement...you know you could breath some life into it...you know you want to. The reference file, downloadable from the site, is a pic of Notre Dame on a typical afternoon.
The challenge is two-fold:
Firstly, to create a short sequence that breaths some life into the plate. You have free reign to paint out/in elements as you see fit. You may also animate/import etc ANY 2D elements from stock footage you may have. (moving cars, buses, lights in buildings, wind etc etc)
The second part is simple, the time of day for your 'life breathing' sequence is Dusk, hence, lighting and environmental factors will be very important
This challenge is a lot more open and will accommodate the matte painters as much as it will the compositors
The prizes for this month:
1st place: Gets a Gift Voucher for $100 (Australian $) from Hotline Bookstore (http://www.hotline.com.au)
2nd Place: Gets a 6 month subscription to Digital Media World magazine (http://www.dmw.com.au)
