Where Have My Uv Samples Option Gone?

Using Maya 2008 on a mac and I just can not for the life of me find where to change the U & V samples for fur feedback.

They just simply are no where to be found in the attribute editor.

I thought they were suppose to be up top by the 'FurDescription' and 'Density' Global Scale' options - but no, they arn't

Any ideas where I can find em??? thanks.

ah ha - found it!

I had to select the object - go into the hypershade window and click on input / output connections, and then they appear in the attributes window. Maybe this post will at least help someone else out 1 day.
