Which Movies Use Maya?

Anybody know, or can tell me which movies use Maya?
I know Toy Story used RenderMan....but what about
Jurassic Park?
The Abyss?
T2?
Star Wars?
The Mummy?
Upcoming Final Fantasy Movie?
Other CG movies?

Jurassic Park? No Maya was not out at the time they used Softimage
and PowerAnimator
The Abyss? PowerAnimator
T2? Softimage and PowerAnimator
Star Wars ? Episode One - Softimage and Maya
The Mummy? Softimage and Maya
Final Fantasy Movie? Yes (modelling, animation, fx, previs - render [some])
Other CG movies? Antz (some modelling with PowerAnimator and Maya)
Shrek? Maya (modelling and cloth) and Softimage

Most of the film out there use multiple software depends from the productions, some use Maya more (HallowMan, Stuart Little [SPI is a big Maya house]) some other less.

Check the various web site and you'll find this kind of informations.

Most recent movie have more and more Maya used in.

most of the movies nowdays are rendered in renderman (wich is essentialy just a rendering software, not a modelling or animation interface) and animated in some other software, such as maya.

It really depends on the effect house that is doing the job. The effect house uses off the shelf and/or custom software. For example, before maya/xsi ILM used Soft for animation and PowerAnimator for modelling Renderman for render and also there own inhouse plugins and Cari. They develop tools for specific job at hand. for eg. Cari was originally developed for facail anim in Dragonheart, but it has evolved a lot now.
Sometimes more than one effect house is involved in the cg of the same movie. Take Godzilla. Centrapolis used nurbs model in soft while another house used poly model in houdini.
and even Pixar use PA/maya for modeling and their on Marionette(aka MenV) for animation.
Also, 3dsmax and lighwave are also used in feature films, but not as much as the bigboys.

Of all the commercial packages out there, Maya is quite dominant in the film industry, but not for rendering. That would be PRMan at this point. Houdini is used a bit for the effects that Maya isn't suitable for. Softimage3d is either being phased out or already has been in most big houses, such as Sony or Disney.

PDI uses all proprietary software. They don't use any off the shelf software at all. Antz and Shrek were all done with their own proprietary tools.

Then how come in the making of shrek on hbo they showed screenshots with softimage in the background? And also of what looked like a customized maya (didn't show this screen long enough so i couldn't really tell since at the time I wasn't really paying attention too closely). I could be wrong I mean, hey, you might work for them for all I know but they did show the models in Softimage

Hold on, but what was FInal Fantasy Movie rendered in ? I don't believe it was Maya rendering....was it Renderman ?
Does anyone know whther NURBS or POLYGONS were used?

There were some scenes or part rendered with Maya, other I believe were done with renderman. Also most of the modelling was done using SubDivs

I work with a couple of the lighters/compositors who were on Final Fantasy. The word I got from them was that it's almost exclusively PRMan (what else could it be really?) There might have been some occasional raytraced elements but he's not sure what they used for those.

I takes a Brave soul to rely On Maya's Rendering Engine for anything let alone something as detailed as that. I have problems with rendering Primatives with maya let alone anything detailed.
