Wireframe rendering (5)

Hi all!

I'm trying to render some models (both NURBS and poly) in wireframe. I know that Mental Ray has this feature but I'm a little unsure about how to go about it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Matt

This is a good tutorial with sample scenes to download,

I found the TomCat Toon shader plug-in useful using Maya's software render to get a wireframe look... with the wires as paint effects!

This is how Patrick at Toon shade described the set up:
It's very simple to do:

  • Set crease edges everywhere on your model (edit polygon->normals->soften/harden-> angle=0).
  • Create a simpleBlackLine shader from the toonshader menu. On the shader, set the "crease" attribute ON, the silhouette OFF, the border OFF and material OFF. Assign the shader.
  • Set the option "enable depth clipping for all shaders" in the cartoonShader/clipping menu
  • Render

You can solve anti-aliasing problems by rendering at 2x resolution and activating the "enable better anti-aliasing" option in the cartoonshader menu. You may also play with the "3d displace" option on the shader.
