now perosnaly is use a different type of offset but hey...
Thera re actualy 5 more ways all of wich are better than that one. The last needs maya 7, and the next last is using mr tooon shading and the, tehen theres the aaed playbalst wich works fine (you can do the same as the hw buffer does with aplayblast except you can add better filttering, a bit of work tough), vector renderer, and covertting each edge to pfx wich is close to the way maya 7 would do this.
all of theese metods are about equal, the aaed playblast and mr tooshading producing teh faar best controll over aa, and thus cleanest blurred lines.
Then if you want variable width curves its a totaly different story.
