I'm doing this new tutorial by "The-Real-Mrhell" (Layered Texture Tutorial) which was added not so long here. He is using maya 3 and he explains. (btw thanks for the tut, looks interesting 
In the HyperGraph select the "placeFlames3D" and middle-mouse drag it onto your "proj_Flames_A" node, this will bring up the connections editor. first select World Inverse Matrix[0] then Placement Matrix.
In the connection editor world inver matrix doesn't appear (in maya 4 that is). Anyone knows what it has been change on to?
