I have been struggling with getting world space mapping on objects in Max. I simply need the texture map UVs to be based on the height of the object in world space.
I have tried everything in MAX to achieve this, and I have gotten little results.
Using dreamscapes terrain material works, however it only allows me 2 colors, and I really need to use a ramp of 3 colors now.
Camera mapping does not obey "ortho" settings on the camera, and thus produces a square cone of mapping rather than flat planar.
I have tried to work with the "Planar from World XYZ" setting under the Coordinates dialog of my ramp texture, but have never achived workable results.
Im surprised no one has written a script or utility to map in this way.
Any ideas??
