Is it possible to acces the File Comments on Windows?! I Just want to write and read Comments from Files in windows, thx

What you mean with file comments? Just a file with comments? Or comments in a maya file?

This is the command to write a file:

// Write some data into a file
//
$exampleFileName = ( internalVar -userTmpDir + "example.tmp" );
$fileId=fopen $exampleFileName "w";
fwrite $fileId "Hello there\n";
fclose $fileId;

  • internalVar -userTmpDir : is to get the directory of the windows temp.
  • example.tmp the name of the file to write...
  • "Hello there\n" is the content you want to write. Here you write what you want...

I meant windows Comments... when your righ-click a file, properties, summary you can enter a comment. And i want to acces this comments from Maya with Mel or Python, is there a possibility?!

Vista or xp. they both work differently.

Tough to be honest it would be better for you to extend windws shell to read maya ifileinfo tags instead.

for XP. Ive searched for the commands to do it with the windows shell, but without any succes. Im open for any ideas, whether wit DosCommands,Mel or Python
