Xform -ws -t ($vec)

Can anyOne tell me why this doesn't work....

vector $vec = <>;
xform -ws -t ($vec);

I have a light selected to be translated by the value in $vec. It gives me this error.....

// Error: Error while parsing arguments. //
Hope I don't ask to many questions, but I guess that's what a forum is all about(only wish I could answer some!)

Well I kinda figured out a way to do what I wanted....This Works
float $x, $y, $z;
$x = 5; $y = 4; $z = 2;
xform -ws -t $x $y $z

Is there a way to get this same effect but with a single vector variable.....?

xform -ws -t ($vec.x) ($vec.y) ($vec.z);

I think...

Thanks. I got it about 10 minutes after I posted the last message.

just another technique.

vecter $vector = <>;
string $string = "`xform -ws -t " + $val + "'";
eval($string);
