Xsi 4.0 install?

i've receive xsi 4.0, i'm trying to install it with a linux system but,
- softimage said XSI work on redhat 9.0 and the actual computers are too recent, for RH9.0, because RH9 is already an old system ...

Is someone have this problem because actually I've no solutions ... and I can't install XSI4.0 ... on linux ... or perhaps ... buy old computers !!!???

Too recent for Red Hat 9? That's interesting. Well, XSI also supports Red Hat Enterprise 3.0. Perhaps you can try that?

I think you don't understand :
how to do when you have shake3.5 and xsi 4.0 for linux,
AND,
shake must have redhat 9 or fedora(the reel last version redhat ...)
AND,
XSI 4.0 must have redhat9 and only redhat 9, it's not possible on fedora because the kernel is too recent !!!
AND,
redhat9, a one year old system with a old kernel 2.4, who don't recognize the last computer you've bought ...

Reality is Softimage arrived with a good soft but if you want to work on linux, you mut have old system and old computers ...
I think it is really a shame when you bought a this price one soft, it must be possible to work on the last system, take shake 3.5 for example, you can install it on the version you want ...

i don't know if you had the news but red hat won't exist anymore, now it's fedora ... than if you are working on linux hurry up to buy redhat 9.0, if you have xsi 4.0

XSI 4 (inofficially) supports FC1...
Anyway, I'm currently trying to make it work on gentoo and FC2, after I wrote a script to use XSI 4 on gentoo/ AMD64 with kernel 2.6.x - I'll post my updates at xsibase.com forums.

Hi, I'm trying to get XSI to work on gentoo AMD64 as well... however
I'm getting 'Aborted' for each try.

I found a post on xsibase which discussed a (bash) start script to get it running in gentoo AMD64, but that doesn't change the outcome (Still get aborted when attempting to run linux-x86-p4/XSI)

Any ideas on why this is happening?

No matter what the team over at Soft is telling you XSI works on other RPM based Linux distributions. I tested XSI Experience on SuSE Linux 9.1 Professional which worked fine. Currently running Maya 6.0.1 and it works beautifully on this distribution. The same should be true for those that wish to use XSI or what ever on Novell Linux Desktop being released sometime in November with SuSE Linux Professional 9.2.
