XSI crash severly

hello everybody
I would like to ask if anybody could help me because my XSI is crashing severly maybe at a rate once per 10 minutes ..my PC configurations are :

pIII 850 mghz
350 mb of ram
win 2000 sp1
Ps : i am not experiencing any trouble with any other software..

First, updating to sp2 might help.

Second, you have a very low amount of RAM, for XSI. With XSI, you can say that you're in safe zone when you have 512, but ideally it would be more than 1 gig.

Other possible sources might something in your scene.... have you noticed any specific conditions when the crash occur?

thanks for your reply but the problem is it crash even before i do a big scene only one sphere for example and one light and one shader and when i try to play with the shader parameters or any other thing it crashes.

I'd be interested in knowing if you have autosave on. I have a user here that is crashing very frequently, even when away from the computer. We narrowed it down to autosave. When we turned that off, he hasn't crashed since.

We narrowed it down even further to the "number of scene backups". If we had that set to 3, XSI would only crash every 3rd save. I'm not sure if this is an XSI or Windows issue yet.
