z depth

Hi,I know that rla/rpf files have the z embedded,and maya iff too,but here's my question:
What if I want to use another sequence as my z channel?
let's say I have my sequence in tga and the same sequence in grayscales for the z depth,also in tga.
Will it work within combustion? how??

i actually was told how to do it but i dont remember.....dammnit!....methinks it might be one of the transfer modes......damn i wish i remembered....if i figure it out ill post a reply.

That would be useful, but as far as I know you can only extract a g-buffer not write to one

Hi there... regarding Z depth... frames with z depth can be created with maya.... but i would like to know how to use them in combustion.... if anybody wants z depth embedded images .. ican provide them... simply render with maya and click on write z depth in render globals... it renderes them seperately plus embed em in few file formats too ..

^^thats what i was talkin about! yeah um i think you apply them as a layer above your image and switch its tranfer mode or maybe apply a compound blur to your original image and use the z depth image as the compound blur's target layer ...somethin like that, i forgot exactly its something easy, i shold just check my notes but its buried in a moveing box in my cellar.
