I am adding my crappy thoughts to this mostly senseless thread.
I think Electronic Outlaw had his points anyway (though he went bit out of line). I myself enjoy much more getting hard critics than ten "oh - I like your pic very much!" -ones.
People should be ready to accept hard critiques. Even if it doesn't feel nice it is the best option.
Simply saing something is bad - on the other hand - doesn't really help much.
But you should be able to say that instead of posting here one should be doing basic excercises and contribute more thoughts to their work. (sometimes "forget it and start over IS the correct answer no matter how hard it feels and how unpolite it may sound)
Some people found the zombie nice and interesting. It looks like anyone's first NURBS failure (now strongly pointing out that no offence meant)
and here is why:
1. the grainy and weirdly aliasing textures that don't really have any detail or colors to support the form. The texture also stretches badly and is quite a disaster around the mouth. Far too much bump values I guess.
2. very simple model that shows greases that seem to follow the simplest circular isoparm directions. The wrinkles in the chin etc.
3. No modeled shape contrasts - everything is similarily smooth (more or less)
4. The kind of soft or overly smooth inward shape to host the eyes. This looks like the reason is just inexperience. Take a challenge and try to make some kind of lid structure. Now the eyes look like marble balls stuck to clay.
In general instead of trying to add everything (paint effects, animation etc.) concentrate in one specific area e.g. modeling and get basic skills there then go on.
Are you really going to work on this one to be a project?
People shouldn't post every one evening excercise that they will anyway leave behind. Everyone has done their crappy first stuff, but if you really are not looking for critiques on some special topic don't post. use your time on practicing.
Definitely no hard feelings meant.
